Post-natal maternity care at home, as provided by Maternitas, is based on the acclaimed Dutch "kraamzorg" maternity care.

In this type of nursing service, a specialized maternity nurse is dedicated to creating an optimal environment for mothers and their newborn babies. The objective is to achieve autonomy as soon as possible, and to promote health and well-being of mother and infant. This type of maternity care is regulated by a national guideline and is enjoyed by practically all mothers in the Netherlands. It is paid for by public or private health insurers. The Dutch "kraamzorg" is highly appreciated by those who have enjoyed it, and is praised widely by maternity professionals in other countries.

In Spain, such a professional service is not available, except for Maternitas post-natal maternity care. In general, the post-natal assistance in Spain consists of a brief check-up visit to the midwife after two weeks, and if possible a helping hand from family members like the mothers' parents. However good willing and useful, this type of help cannot provide the same level of care as provided by professional maternity care. What's more, with Maternitas the maternity nurses are all highly trained and certified midwives.
